PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR


The Town of Fort Fairfield has an exciting full-time job opportunity for the position of Parks and Recreation Director. Applicants must enjoy working with people of all ages in a wide variety of sporting and other recreational activities

Duties include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, supervising, promoting, maintaining, and evaluating the municipal recreation programs and activities.

It is preferred that applicants possess three years of experience in a recreation leadership role. Academic training in recreation is desired. Coaching experience and general swimming pool maintenance, including the handling of chemicals is also desired.

This position offers a great benefits package that includes: health insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick time. Salary is to be determined based on experience and education.

Hegemann Named Festival Director

Fort Fairfield native, Meg McLaughlin Hegemann has been named as the new director of the Maine Potato Blossom Festival.

Hegemann has experience planning a variety of events, as well as a deep love for the potato industry and the festival that celebrates it.meg 350 “Working the fields gave me a connection to the land here such that no other place felt like home.” After decades in Missouri, Meg and her husband, Brad, moved to Fort Fairfield in June 2016.

As director, Hegemann will work with existing volunteers and recruit new ones to facilitate the week long event. “The Festival doesn't just celebrate the town of Fort Fairfield, it celebrates an industry that in many ways defines the County. It takes cooperation from a lot of people and places to make it happen. I look forward to working together to make the 2018 Festival one of the best.”

The 2018 Maine Potato Blossom Festival will take place July 14 – 22 with the parade on Saturday, July 21. To sponsor an event or volunteer, contact Hegemann at mpbf@fortfairfield.org.

NOTICE OF TAX SALE


The Town of Fort Fairfield is accepting bids for the purchase of the municipality’s interest in 3 tax-acquired properties in AS IS WHERE IS condition with no guarantees expressed or implied.  Each bid must be in writing and in a sealed envelope marked “TAX SALE BID” on the outside.  Each bid must be for one property only; any person wishing to bid on several properties must submit a separate bid for each one.  All bids must be received at the Town Office no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at which time the bids will be opened and reviewed.  Bids will be considered for award at the Regular Town Council meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 6:00pm.  The Town Council reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids.  Each successful bidder shall have ten days from the date of bid acceptance in which to complete the purchase.  Each property will be conveyed by a quitclaim deed without covenants.  In the event that a successful bidder fails, for any reason, to complete the purchase in the time slated, the bid acceptance is void.  The Town Council may thereafter negotiate a sale of the property with any or all unsuccessful bidders.  Bids sent by mail should be addressed to the Town of Fort Fairfield, Tax Sale Bid, 18 Community Center Drive, Fort Fairfield, ME  04742.
